Assisting Hands® Irvine & Dana Point is currently hiring Caregivers specifically for weekend shifts with clients throughout South Orange County.
If you are looking for consistent weekend caregiving opportunities, or want to supplement your weekday schedule with additional weekend hours, we would like to hear from you.
We provide non-medical home care services to male and female clients with a variety of care needs. Assignments may include Companion Care, Personal Care, or a combination of both, depending on the client's individualized Plan of Care.
Weekend Shift Opportunities
Weekend assignments may be available during:
- Fridays
- Saturdays
- Sundays
- Daytime, evening, overnight, and extended shifts
Shifts are based on client needs and caregiver availability and generally range from a minimum of 4 hours to a maximum of 12 hours.
Our primary service area includes San Clemente, Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Laguna Niguel, Rancho Mission Viejo, Ladera Ranch, and surrounding South Orange County communities.
Additional weekday shifts may also be available for caregivers interested in working more hours.
Please note: Shift availability varies according to client needs, and Assisting Hands does not guarantee a specific number of hours.
What You May Do
Companion Care
Depending on the client's Plan of Care, Companion Care responsibilities may include:
- Providing companionship, conversation, socialization, and emotional support
- Providing safety supervision and remaining present with clients who should not be left alone
- Preparing meals and encouraging proper nutrition and hydration
- Performing light housekeeping, laundry, changing bed linens, and routine household organization
- Grocery shopping and completing errands
- Providing transportation and accompanying clients to appointments, shopping, social activities, and other outings
- Assisting with calendars, appointments, mail, telephone calls, and daily routines
- Providing medication reminders and permitted assistance with self-administration of medications
- Encouraging hobbies, reading, games, walks, and appropriate social or physical activities
- Providing reminders, prompting, and cueing for clients with memory or cognitive impairment
Personal Care
For clients requiring hands-on assistance, responsibilities may include:
- Bathing and shower assistance
- Dressing and undressing
- Grooming, oral care, and personal hygiene
- Toileting and bedside commode assistance
- Incontinence care
- Feeding assistance
- Hands-on walking and mobility assistance
- Transfers between beds, chairs, wheelchairs, toilets, and other surfaces
- Assistance with approved mobility devices and equipment
- Repositioning for comfort and safety
- Permitted range-of-motion exercises
- Hands-on personal care for clients living with dementia or cognitive impairment
Caregivers are expected to perform only those activities authorized by the client's Plan of Care and permitted by applicable law, agency policy, caregiver training, and demonstrated competency.
Additional Caregiver Responsibilities
As a Caregiver with Assisting Hands, you will also be responsible for:
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment within the client's residence
- Following each client's individualized Plan of Care
- Observing and promptly reporting changes in a client's physical condition, behavior, or care needs
- Properly documenting required caregiving activities
- Following infection-control procedures and proper handwashing practices
- Using mobility and assistive equipment only as trained and authorized
- Providing permitted medication reminders or assistance with self-administration of medications in accordance with agency policy
- Following all Assisting Hands policies, procedures, training requirements, and professional standards
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have a High School Diploma or GED
- Have reliable personal transportation
- Possess a valid California driver's license and proof of automobile insurance
- Provide documentation establishing identity and authorization to work in the United States
- Be registered with the California Home Care Aide (HCA) Registry
- Meet applicable background check and fingerprint clearance requirements
- Meet required California caregiver training requirements
- Maintain current CPR and First Aid Certification
- Provide documentation of a current qualifying negative TB screening/test
- Be dependable, professional, compassionate, and comfortable working independently in clients' homes

Scheduling
Assisting Hands operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and client assignments are scheduled based on client needs, caregiver qualifications, location, and availability.
Available assignments can be viewed and picked up through the AxisCare mobile app.
Because we are specifically recruiting for weekend coverage, applicants should have meaningful availability on Fridays, Saturdays, and/or Sundays.
