Make a difference through meaningful, one-on-one care. Assisting Hands Home Care – Merrillville is seeking dependable, compassionate caregivers to help seniors and adults remain comfortable and supported in their own homes.
We provide non-medical home care in Schererville and throughout Lake and Porter Counties. If you enjoy helping others and want a team you can count on, we would love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and other personal care needs
- Help clients with safe transfers, walking, and mobility according to their care plans and your training
- Provide companionship, conversation, and support with daily routines
- Prepare meals and assist with light housekeeping and laundry
- Provide medication reminders; this role does not include medication administration
- Observe and report changes in client condition, behavior, or safety
- Use our mobile app to clock in and out, document care, and communicate with the office
- Follow each client’s care plan, infection prevention practices, and agency safety procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of caregiving experience preferred, including home care, assisted living, or facility experience
- Reliable transportation to assigned shifts, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance
- Ability to pass a national background check
- Current TB test and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain them before starting client assignments
- Dependable attendance, clear communication, and a compassionate, professional attitude
- Comfortable using a smartphone for scheduling, documentation, and communication
Schedule and Work Location
This is an hourly, non-exempt position providing care in clients’ homes. Assignments are based on client needs, your experience, and your availability. Please include the days, hours, and communities you are available to work when applying.
Our service area includes Schererville, Crown Point, Merrillville, Valparaiso, Portage, Hobart, Chesterton, and nearby communities in Lake and Porter Counties.
