Job Summary
The Male Caregiver provides compassionate, reliable, and respectful in-home care to clients who need assistance with daily activities, personal care, mobility, companionship, and maintaining a safe home environment. The caregiver works according to each client's care plan and agency policies while promoting the client's dignity, independence, and well-being.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
- Provide mobility assistance, including walking, transfers, and positioning.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding when required.
- Provide medication reminders according to the client's care plan and applicable regulations.
- Perform light housekeeping, laundry, and other tasks necessary to maintain a safe and comfortable environment.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Assist clients with errands, appointments, shopping, and other approved activities.
- Monitor and report changes in the client's physical or mental condition to the supervisor or care coordinator.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided.
- Follow infection-control, safety, emergency, and agency procedures.
- Respect client privacy, confidentiality, cultural preferences, and personal choices.
- Communicate professionally with clients, families, healthcare professionals, and agency staff.
- Provide assistance with male clients' personal-care needs when appropriate and requested.
Qualifications
- Previous caregiving, home care, personal care, CNA, or related experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Reliable, compassionate, patient, and dependable.
- Ability to safely assist clients with mobility and transfers.
- Ability to work independently in a client's home.
- Must pass applicable background checks and meet agency hiring requirements.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred or required, depending on assignment.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
Work Environment
Caregivers work primarily in clients' private residences. Assignments may include daytime, evening, overnight, weekend, holiday, or live-in shifts depending on client needs and agency availability.
