What You’ll Do
Depending on each client’s individualized care plan, responsibilities may include:
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, personal hygiene, and eating
- Provide companionship, conversation, and social engagement
- Support safe walking, mobility, and transfers according to the care plan and your training
- Prepare meals and help with light housekeeping, laundry, and dishes
- Provide medication reminders; this role does not include medication administration
- Observe and report changes in client condition, behavior, or needs
- Use our mobile app for scheduling, clocking in and out, and documenting care
- Follow client care plans, safety procedures, infection prevention practices, and agency policies
- Maintain client confidentiality, dignity, and professionalism
Qualifications
- Previous caregiving experience in home care, private duty care, assisted living, senior care, disability support, or a similar setting
- Two or more years of caregiving experience preferred
- Applicants with experience as a caregiver, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), Personal Care Aide (PCA), or Direct Support Professional (DSP) are welcome
- CNA or HHA certification is not required for all assignments
- High school diploma or GED
- Reliable transportation to assigned shifts
- Valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance when driving is required for an assignment
- Ability to successfully complete a national background screening
- Current CPR certification and TB documentation, or ability to complete these requirements before a client assignment
- Comfortable using a smartphone for scheduling, communication, and care documentation
- Dependable attendance, patience, compassion, and a professional attitude
Schedule and Work Location
This is an hourly, non-exempt position providing care in clients’ homes in Merrillville and surrounding Lake and Porter County communities.
You do not need to be available for every shift or service area. Please share your current availability and preferred work locations when applying. Assignments depend on client needs, your qualifications, and your availability.
