Assisting Hands Home Care – Merrillville is now hiring Caregivers, Home Health Aides (HHA), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), Personal Care Aides (PCA), Direct Support Professionals (DSP), and Home Care Assistants to provide non-medical home care to seniors and adults in Merrillville, Crown Point, Valparaiso, Portage, Hobart, Chesterton, and across Lake & Porter Counties.

🏡 Caregiver Job Duties

Caregivers will provide:

  • Personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, transfers)

  • Companionship and emotional support

  • Meal preparation and light housekeeping

  • Laundry, bed changes, and home organization

  • Medication reminders (no medication administration)

  • Mobility and ambulation assistance (walker, wheelchair)

  • Observing and reporting changes in condition

  • Using a mobile app for clock-in/out and care notes

  • Following safety and infection control procedures

✅ Caregiver Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Preferred: 1 year of experience (Caregiver, HHA, CNA, PCA, DSP, or facility experience)

  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance

  • Able to pass a national background check

  • Current TB test and CPR certification (or willing to obtain)

  • Dependable, patient, compassionate, and professional

  • Comfortable using a smartphone for timekeeping and communication

  • Job Type: PRN, Part-Time, Full-Time

  • Schedule: Flexible — days, evenings, overnights, weekends

  • Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

  • Service Area: Merrillville and surrounding Lake & Porter County communities

  • Reports To: Staffing Coordinator
